GUNDA

A pig, two cows and a one-legged chicken. Familiar, even commonplace animals – they peck, graze, and roll in the mud, catching worms and brushing away the flies. With stunning black-and-white photography and a complete lack of humans and dialogue, Gunda is a remarkably intimate and empathetic depiction of farmlife from the perspective of the animals.

Carl Christian Lein Størmer
Director/Artist | It's Gonna Happen

IDFAcademy is open to directors and producers making their first or second film, who have proven their talent on a national scale and would like to expand their career internationally. Carl Christian Lein Størmer is invited from Norway.

Lein Størmer started out making DIY music videos for fellow musicians, in between touring with his own hardcore punk bands sometime around 2011. Originally a trained medical physician, Lein Størmer is these days mostly occupied with making films, music videos and touring with his band Die a Legend.

He has recently received euro 140.000 in production grants from the Norwegian Film Institute for Before We Die, a documentary on the rock band Hangface. The band worked with big names in the US music industry in the early 2000s, releasing their debut album Freakshow in 2005, produced by Eddie Kramer, but then disappeared. The film tries to find out what happened to the band.
