Public webinar to take place on Wiltshire Council's budget

Local residents are being invited to hear more about Wiltshire Council's budget proposals at a webinar next week.

The webinar takes place from 5:30pm on Wednesday 25 January and all people need to do is click on this link Budget public webinar - 25 January (opens new window) at that time to access it. People are also invited to ask any questions in advance if they can, and they can do so by emailing communications@wiltshire.gov.uk (opens new window) by 24 January. There will also be an opportunity for questions to be asked during the webinar itself.

Wiltshire Council published its budget proposals for 2023/24 and the next two financial years last week, and they detail how the council will continue to provide quality services and make savings while navigating through a period including a cost-of-living crisis, huge inflation rates and high energy prices. Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of Wiltshire Council, is asking residents to attend the webinar to find out more details about the proposals and how the council intends to stay financially self-sufficient during this challenging and unpredictable time.

Cllr Richard Clewer said:

"This continues to be an extraordinary time to set a budget, so our webinar will be an opportunity for residents to find out all they can about our proposals and the context behind the decisions we've put forward and a chance to ask questions.

"The services we provide have an important impact on residents' day-to-day lives, so we hope people are able to attend and get out from the session what they can."

For those not able to attend on the night, the webinar will be recorded and made available on Wiltshire Council's website and shared on social media the following day (26 January).

For the best experience, people should download Microsoft Teams to their computer or mobile device to access the engagement session.

No final decisions on the budget proposals have been made, and prior to being discussed and debated at Full Council on 21 February, they will be scrutinised by various groups including members, group leaders, trade union representatives and the council's Overview and Scrutiny Management committee.
