This mini-course provides background information on produce farming in the United States, Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), Agricultural Water Use, and Pathogens (bad bugs) of concern for fresh produce contamination. There is also a module on a Web of Causation – a conceptual model that illustrates the complex relationships among pathogens and products leading to contamination. This model, conceptualized and developed by WIFSS, provides a framework for guiding an investigation or assisting in the assessment of a farming system to determine potential sources and routes of contamination.
