#1 Global Leader in Data Protection & Ransomware Recovery

Reynolds Adds Veeam to the Menu for Supply Chain Protection

Thanks to Veeam, food orders for the likes of Pizza Express and the F1 Grand Prix can be processed without failure

London, UK, 23 September 2019:Veeam Software, the leader in backup solutions that enables Cloud Data Management, today announced that Reynolds, a leading provider of fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, dairy items and salads to many of the biggest names in the food-service industry, has chosen Veeam Availability Suite to protect critical data going into its supply chain. Veeam has reduced the risk of downtime by recovering critical data 92% faster than legacy backup, enabling the company to deliver more reliable services to its network of customers.

Reynolds has been named the United Kingdom’s favorite green grocer by readers of Restaurant Magazine each year since 2015. The company supplies food to restaurant giants such as Pizza Express, Itsu and Wasabi and to national events including Wimbledon, the FA Challenge and the F1 Grand Prix. Reynolds is committed to exceptional customer service, and to maintain that level of service, data going into its supply chain must be protected.

Some of the most critical data comes from customers placing orders. Many of them have proprietary ordering systems, so Reynolds maps their orders to enterprise resource planning software. If orders aren’t mapped successfully, data must be recovered fast so orders can be picked, packed and delivered on time.

“If we were to experience a hardware failure, recovery might take six hours or more,” said Richard Calder, IT director, Reynolds. “Employees pick, pack and deliver 24 hours each day, so we can’t afford to be down for any period of time. Our customers depend on us, and we’re not going to disappoint them.”

When recovery became time-consuming because their legacy backup solution was difficult to manage, Reynolds replaced it with Veeam. Recovering data with Veeam is 92% faster than legacy backup, and that’s just one of the benefits Veeam provides.  After customers place their orders, Reynolds delivers them the next morning. To guarantee efficient, reliable service and delivery, the company has developed proprietary Android applications used by warehouse employees and delivery drivers.

“These are the apps that enable us to pick, pack and deliver all day and night,” said Justin Lamb, Infrastructure and Application Specialist, Reynolds. “We’re always working to improve our apps to increase service levels, and Veeam helps by providing test labs.”

Reynolds also leverages data for greater business acceleration with Veeam DataLabs. A feature called On-Demand Sandbox creates isolated environments for research and development testing on the proprietary Android applications Reynolds built for warehouse and delivery employees to use when they pick, pack and deliver orders 24 hours a day. On-Demand Sandbox also lets Reynolds test software updates before committing them to production. Another Veeam feature called SureBackup automatically verifies the recoverability of backups, and Instant VM Recovery restores data in minutes.

“Veeam reduces the complexity of data protection,” added Calder. “Because Veeam saves so much time (the equivalent of one full-time position), the person who looked after backup and storage has different job duties now. He developed a process that provides complete visibility into support services for customers, suppliers and employees. It’s proven extremely useful and saves us even more time. Veeam is a good example of a solution that adds tremendous value to the business. Deploying Veeam is one of the best business decisions we’ve made.”
