Scholarships for international students

The University of Macerata has a long tradition of welcoming international students for its Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses. All our international students are entitled to enrol under the same terms as their Italian colleagues and are assessed in line with the same financial and/or merit rules.

The University of Macerata, as part of the initiatives aimed at promoting and supporting the right to study of international students residing abroad, in the framework of internationalization and inclusion processes within its academic offer, intends to award 20 scholarships to international prospective students, whereof 2 scholarships are reserved to students selected in the framework of the agreement with the University of Hanoi (Vietnam). The scholarships are reserved for international students who will enrol in the 2024/2025 academic year to study full-time in the first year of a study course (a 3-year bachelor's degree program or a 2-year master's degree program) at the University of Macerata, excluding single-cycle master’s degree programs.

The University of Macerata is a partner of the Invest Your Talent in Italy program, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy, the Ministry of University and Research, ITA – Italian Trade Agency, and Uni-Italia.

The IYT program offers a unique opportunity to students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mexico, People’s Republic of China, Republic of Korea, Tunisia, Turkey, Vietnam to bring their talent to Italy and develop their skills through a range of master’s and post-graduate courses, entirely taught in English, in prestigious Italian universities.

The IYT program aims to focus both on the academic and professional development of students, combining lectures with practical on-the-job training with an Italian company and a seminar or a course on enhancing of gender equality and on fighting violence and abuse against women, in memory of Giulia Cecchettin.
Furthermore, students will have the chance to attend Italian language courses and to participate in cultural activities offered by the university. Once selected, students will receive a scholarship and have access to a variety of services and assistance such as scholarships, fee reductions, exemptions, welcome and support services from their arrival to the end of their academic career.

The UniMC participates in the IYT program with the following 2-year Master’s Degree Programmes entirely taught in English:

  • International Relations (IR, LM-52), curriculum International Economic Relations (IER) only, run by the Department of Political Science, Communication and International Relations;
  • International Finance and Economics (IFE, curriculum of LM-16 Finance and Markets), run by the Department of Economics and Law;
  • International Tourism and Destination Management (ITourDeM, LM-49), run by the Department of Education, Cultural Heritage and Tourism.

Only those candidates who have applied for the pre-admission to one of the above through the UniMC’s application portal apply.unimc.itcan apply for the IYT Program through the dedicated IYT online application form.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers grants in favor of foreign citizens* and Italian citizens living abroad (IRE) for the academic year 2023-24 in order to foster international cooperation in cultural, scientific and technological fields, to promote Italian language and culture and to support Italy’s economic system in the world (according to Law 288/55 and its subsequent changes and additions).

Grants are offered to complete study courses and research/training programs in public or legally recognized Italian educational institutions.

Scholarships are available to attend academic courses onsite on the Italian territory only.

The University of Macerata awards 15 scholarships to international students wishing to pursue a 3-year bachelor's degree programme or a 2-year master's degree programme. Two of these scholarships are reserved for Vietnamese students selected in the framework of the agreement with the University of Hanoi (Vietnam) and two further scholarships are reserved for those who enrol in the master’s degree programme in ‘International Relations’ (LM-52) promoted by the Department of Political Science, Communication and International Relations.

GRANTS IN MEMORY OF THE AMBASSADOR LUCA ATTANASIO
In memory of Ambassador Attanasio and his team members (Vittorio Iacovacci and Mustapha Milambo), also for the adademic year 2022-23, a reserve of three scholarships will be provided for candidates coming from Morocco, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo, who aim to start or pursue their course of studies in the fields of international relationships, cooperation for development, international humanitarian law and human rights, with a preference for Master’s Degrees classified LM-38 (Modern Languages for communication and cooperation), LM-52 (International relations), LM-62 (Political Sciences), LM-81 (Cooperation for development Sciences), LM-87 (Social services and social policies).

"UNIMC FOR UKRAINE" PROGRAM - 10 SCHOLARSHIPS IN SUPPORT TO UKRAINIAN STUDENTS a.y. 2021/2022

In regard to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, the call aims at providing n. 10 scholarships to Ukrainian students in economic need. The scholarship is reserved to Ukrainian students, residing abroad and regularly enrolled into Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees, as well as for the double degree’s mobility, at the University of Macerata in the a.y. 2021/2022.

The amount of each scholarship is euros 1.000,00 gross of charges payable by the beneficiary for the a.y. 2021/2022

In regard to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, "UniMC for Ukraine" scholarships program is aimed to support Ukrainian students who intend to start their studies at the University of Macerata. The scholarships are reserved to students of Ukrainian nationality, resident in the war zones who intend to enroll in a bachelor’s degree (three-year) or a master’s degree (two-year) programme of the University in the a.y. 2021/2022.
Each scholarship amounts to Euro 8,500
