When we decide to use social media to engage with the communities we work with and for, an additional duty of care arises. Social media can exacerbate inequalities of age, gender, literacy and digital literacy. But in some situations, social media is invaluable for contacting individuals who might otherwise be out of reach, enabling us to share potentially life-saving information.
