General Info

The COVID-19 International Student Well-being Study (C19 ISWS) applies mixed methods to examine various aspects of student well-being, help-seeking behavior, and relevant social correlates (including socio-demographic, socioeconomic, study-related characteristics) in times of corona.

The first wave of the C19 ISWS, organized during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, surveyed over 100.000 higher-education students in 125 higher education institutions (HEI) in 27 middle- and high-income countries in Europe and North America. Within the Flemish community, the majority of HEIs participated. More info can be found in our research protocol: https://doi.org/10.1177/1403494820981186

A second wave was organized in the spring of 2021 in a selection of HEIs. While the main focus of this second wave remained student well-being, an additional module was added, which focused on family dynamics, dating life, and sexual health in students. Within the University of Antwerp, this second wave was complemented with a series of six focus group discussions (FGD) with relevant staff members (N: 23)  and seven FGDs with vulnerable student groups (N: 48).
