A global forum dedicated to fostering transport solutions in developing countries that address both climate and development goals

MOBILIZING FINANCE FOR CLIMATE ACTION

MARCH 19-20, 2024

Organized by the World Bank and WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities

For millions of people around the world, transportation is a lifeline – to jobs, education and opportunity. But the way people and goods move is also a significant contributor to climate change. As the world reaches for solutions, many are looking to the transport sector for answers that ensure a more livable planet.

But leveraging the full potential of transport will require considerable resources and investment. That’s why financing is a core theme of Transforming Transportation 2024, which will bring together global leaders and transport professionals to explore how all stakeholders can mobilize resources for greener, safer, resilient transport for all, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

During the two-day event, and week-long side activities, transport and financial leaders and professionals will take a deep dive into the urgent need for climate financing in transportation; the correlation between investments, economic growth, and climate targets; and the role that organizations of all kinds, from development banks to community groups, can play in driving transformative change.

Topics will include scaling finance for low-carbon transport, a just transition, resilient systems and infrastructure, inclusive and safe mobility, green logistics, and more.
