‘Abuser’ allowed to wed stranger on Married at First Sight UK despite ‘three exes warning police about him’
A REALITY star was allowed to wed a stranger on TV despite three exes making police complaints of his alleged emotional abuse.
They claim show makers ignored alerts over George Roberts, 40, who appears on Married at First Sight UK on Channel 4-run E4.
His three recent ex-girlfriends made independent complaints to police about his alleged “obsessive”, “manipulative” and “abusive” behaviour.
They are horrified that Roberts was able to wed a stranger on the show.
The women raised the alarm after seeing him in trailers for the current series of the E4 match-making show — but say their claims were ignored.
Roberts was selected by experts to take part in the current series of the show and wed ex Ms Great Britain April Banbury who he met at the altar for the first time.

One of the exes said: “I’m so shocked to see he has been given a platform on a TV show. I messaged Married at First Sight. I said I reported him to the police.
"They asked for additional information which I gave and I never heard anything further.”
Another ex said: “I contacted Married at First Sight, E4 and All4 and the producers to tell them he was a known emotional and mental abuser of women.”
The third said: “I sent everything I had. They said they would be looking into it.”

The women had all dated him since he was divorced from his first wife. They each told cops he “love-bombed” them by showering them with affection and gifts before his behaviour turned “coercive and controlling”.
The series is half way through its run. Financial adviser George, a dad of four from Worcestershire, went on a Caribbean honeymoon with April.
But she hinted on Instagram at the weekend that the relationship was over.
She wrote: “The traumas that have been brought on from this show have made me re-evaluate things. I really have and I’m not ashamed to admit, I have been seeing a therapist ever since.”
Channel 4, which runs E4, claimed rigorous checks were made on the contestants and “any allegations of this nature are taken extremely seriously”.
A spokesperson said: “We work incredibly closely with our production partners to ensure all Married at First Sight UK contributors are subject to rigorous background and psychological checks, including the most detailed police checks a production is able to undertake.
"Any allegations of this nature are taken extremely seriously by Channel 4.”
A show source claimed they were not made aware of the allegations until filming finished.
Women’s Aid said the entertainment industry should send a clear message — domestic abuse will not be tolerated.
Last night April said: “These revelations have knocked me for six. My head is spinning too much to comment.”
A spokesperson for Roberts said: “George categorically denies these allegations.

"As a father of daughters he finds these accusations deeply upsetting and does not condone abuse nor behaves in that way.
“These allegations were never brought to his attention, investigated or taken further by the police for good reason as they are simply not true.”
