SW21 Paper and Poster Submission Instructions


We are now inviting new submissions of papers and posters, presenting academic research and industrial case studies. Contributions to the technical programme are welcome in three main areas 

  • Simulation Modelling Methodology 
  • Simulations Analysis Methodology 
  • Simulation in Practice 

Although papers in any area of simulation modelling and analysis will be considered.  

All those who have already submitted papers and posters are welcome to retain them. 

We are delighted to announce a special track dedicated to the topic of the COVID-19 pandemic and invite submissions related to this theme. For ideas of relevant topics, authors should refer to the following paper: Currie, Fowler, Kotiadis, Monks, Onggo, Robertson and Tako (2020) How simulation modelling can help reduce the impact of COVID-19, Journal of Simulation, DOI:10.1080/17477778.2020.1751570.       

All submissions are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings and will be presented at the conference, subject to a valid registration. Authors of papers presented at SW21 will be invited to submit extended versions of their work for publication in a peer reviewed special issue of the Journal of Simulation. For more details, see the following call for papers. The deadline for special issue article submissions will be June 2021 (TBC). 

Presentations are 30 minutes, including time for questions and answers. Presentations for introductory/advanced tutorials will be given 90 minutes including time for questions and answers. Posters of applied or research projects in Simulation will be displayed during the conference. Poster authors will be invited to briefly introduce their work in 2 minutes at a dedicated poster session.

Posters:  Submit your title and a brief abstract (150 words maximum), using the Easy Chair link below.

Deadline for submission of Poster titles and abstracts (150 words) is 12 January 2021.

If your title and abstract change after submission, please log back in to amend and re-save, remembering to note any deadline dates.  

Submission implies that an author will register and pay to attend the conference to present the paper or poster.

All clearance required for the publication of the paper will be obtained by 01 February 2021.

Submission Deadlines

16 October 2020: Deadline for submission of electronically contributed papers not previously published or presented. Each submission must be a 3-10 page paper and 10-15 pages for the introductory/advanced tutorial stream, including an abstract of 150 words maximum. Submission implies that an author will pay to attend the workshop to present the paper, and all clearance required for the publication of the paper will be obtained by 01 February, 2021.

09 February 2021Deadline for Author notification of paper acceptance.   

12 January 2021: Deadline for submission of Poster titles and abstracts of 150 words maximum.  Submission implies that an author will register and pay to attend the conference. Poster abstracts will be published in the conference handbook and should follow the guidelines for conference papers.

01 February 2021: Deadline for submission of final manuscripts for inclusion in the conference proceedings.
