Peach Tree Rascals release sun-dappled slice of laidback hip-hop “Summa”

The multi-genre, multi-media collective of five are an all-encompassing creative force. Their rose-tinted, laidback single “Summa” is a tribute to blue skies, the sun shining, and being young.

Peach Tree Rascals comprise of producer/mixer Dominic "Dom" Pizano, rappers-singers Isaac Pech, Tarrek Abdel-Khaliq, Joseph Barros, and creative director Jorge Olazaba. Having met in the Bay Area at high school, the project was born from a desire to broaden their horizons, founded in the ethic of beginning a creative family.

Many of the Rascals are second-generation Americans, with parents who immigrated from the likes of Mexico, Philippines, and Palestine. The drive to strive for more has been ingrained from the very beginning. In order to nourish the collective, the members have grafted hard, working all hours at the likes of Red Lobster and their local print shop to get Peach Tree Rascals off the ground.

“We made 'Summa' late one night on one of our first writing trips to LA,” Isaac says. “When I think of summer it reminds of long days and long nights doing stupid shit with my friends," Joseph adds. “During this time of the year I’m always living care free and all the other things on my mind go on hold. I always had this mindset of living out my youth while it lasts especially in the 'Summa.'”

With the innovative, grass-roots determination of BROCKHAMPTON, infectious, bouncing beats, and feather-light, mellifluous vocals, Peach Tree Rascals have tapped into a hip-hop alchemy without even trying. They depend on Ocean-like harmonies just as heavily as the addictive rasp of rapped verses. They cover all bases. Undoubtedly, Peach Tree Rascals know what the zeitgeist is, and they’re out to capture it.
