This is an exciting time to join the Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust (DCET) which opened on 1 March 2022 as one of the first Catholic multi-academy Trust’s in Clifton Diocese.

The DCET currently oversees ten primary schools based in Somerset, North Somerset and Wiltshire with a combined total of circa 2,000 pupils, 300 staff and £9m budget. The Trust has already grown significantly since its opening and the Bishop’s ambitious growth plan means it will expand even more in the next few years to over 20 mixed phase schools.

Trust Board Director (Unpaid Volunteer Role)

The Trust Board seeks a diverse range of executive level skills, knowledge and experience to oversee delivery of its vision, strategy and Catholic ethos for the benefit of all pupils and communities served , as well as enable compliance with its statutory duties as a charitable company accountable to the Department for Education (the regulator of academies). The term of office is four years and, on average the time commitment is 1 - 2 days per month.

This is a hugely valued and rewarding role but is done on an unpaid volunteer basis, although out-of-pocket expenses can be reimbursed. N.B. All appointments will be subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate and Section 128 clearance.

School Governor (Unpaid Volunteer Role)

The Trust is looking to recruit more governors who offer a mix different skills, experience, and local knowledge to work strategically and ensure the responsibility delegated to each LGC is delivered effectively for the benefit of local children. You do NOT need to have previous governor experience, induction and ongoing training will be provided. The time commitment, on average, equates to 1-2 days per month to include formal meeting preparation and attendance, ongoing professional development, staff recruitment, engagement with stakeholders including accompanied visits to get to know the school, its staff and pupils.
