UK National Safety of Journalists |
The NUJ, represented by General Secretary Michelle Stanistreet, is part of the newly-established UK National Safety of Journalists Committee, which is tasked with the creation of an action plan to tackle this growing problem for journalists and journalism.
The union has supported members facing attacks on social media; London-based journalists at Iran International and the BBC Persian Service being targeted by the Iranian authorities; reporters and photographers abused and attacked by far right activists; and journalists targeted by criminal gangs and paramilitary groups because of their reporting – just some of the unacceptable abuse happening across the industry.
We want to find out more about your experiences to inform this important work, and give you the opportunity to help tackle the problem and help create the action plan.
Please take a few moments to complete this confidential survey, to give us an insight into the prevalence of various behaviours and tactics being deployed to threaten or silence journalists and media outlets, or prevent investigations and publishing.
