Odd Socks Day

Celebrating 'Odd Socks Day'

Today we are celebrating Odd Socks Day, to help us think about, understand and celebrate people's differences as part of Anti-Bullying week.

We have kicked off the week with an assembly about Rose Ayling-Ellis, who is the first deaf contestant to take part of Strictly Come Dancing. We watched her dance which was aired this weekend, and talked about how the part in the middle of the dance where the music stops gives us a glimpse into what her world may be like. You can watch the dance here . We thought she was very inspiring, and found out that there has been a huge increase in people wanting to learn sign language since she has raised awareness about this on the show. We found out how we can support people who may have hearing difficulties, and watched this video from the National Deaf Children's Society  here.
