St Saviour's Church Schools

Celebration Assembly

Today in our Junior School assembly we celebrated our World Book Day projects. We talked about the books we have been focussing on:

-The Truth Pixie by Matt Haig

-The Barnabus Project by the Fan Brothers

-The Proudest Blue by Ibtihaj Muhammed and S.K. Ali

-Here We Are - Notes for Living on Planet Earth by Oliver Jeffers

We saw:

-3D book scenes based on all of the books above

-'Failed projects' based on the failed hybrid creatures in the Barnabus Project

and heard about the discussions classes have had inspired by the books. Year 6 told us what they had learnt about being a Muslim and wearing a Hijab through the story, 'The Proudest Blue', and how the character in the story was inspired by her older sister to ignore the shadows and unkind voices and stand proud in her hijab. It was lovely to hear how much the children enjoyed these books and see their beautiful creative work inspired by them.
