The electric revolution begins here

16 February 2024

As London’s most iconic news brand and a custodian of city life for 200 years, the Evening Standard recognises just how important it is for London to become a fully electric metropolis.

That's why we're leading the way with this ongoing campaign.

Since 2022, Plug It In has been on a mission to help drivers better understand the electric vehicle landscape, and to drive forward the electric conversation on a policy level, and at global scale.

We've had some notable successes – including hosting an EV summit, which brought together key decision-makers, including London Mayor Sadiq Khan, to discuss what an electric future could look like – but the job is far from complete.

As the cost of EVs come down and the technology improves, we stand at a pivotal moment, and we recognise the need to be bold.

In order to go fully electric, an entirely new urban eco-system will need to be established in the UK, linking clean energy and clean transport of all stripes to a fully-fledged electric infrastructure; while there are still barriers to surmount with regards to consumer confidence.

At stake is nothing short of the future of our planet, so we ask you to join us.

Plug It In is supported by commercial partners, which share the project’s aims, but our journalism remains editorially independent.
