Reframe: Inspire Schools Zine Library
The zines in this library are the result of dozens of creative sessions that took place in 21 secondary schools across Manchester, Birmingham, and London as part of the Southbank Centre’s Reframe: Inspire Schools programme, supported by Apple.
Inspired by Planet Summer – the Southbank Centre’s season of multi-artform programming focusing on the climate emergency – the workshops challenged over 400 young people aged 11 – 14 to build their digital skills and develop their activism practice, and introduced them to opportunities to combat the climate crisis with hope and love.
Each zine was created by a group of up to 30 key stage 3 students across four workshops supported by a team of creative artist educators.
Each workshop included creative activities, discussions, digital art-making and hands-on zine-making.
As the culmination of the project, every school was invited to the Southbank Centre to celebrate the launch of their printed zines and to celebrate the unveiling of this online library.
The zines exhibit the enormous creativity in art, design and poetry that the participating students have brought to light with hope for the future. We invite you to enjoy, share and be inspired by these inspirational creations!
