For them, these events aren’t just news stories, it’s their lives. But when children are in harm’s way, they are never alone. UNICEF is there to protect them before, during and after a crisis.
ALEX BROOKER MEETS ELAN AND HEARS HER STORY LIVING IN A REFUGEE CAMP IN JORDAN.
Alex was the first physically disabled player to participate in Soccer Aid. He visited Elan in Zaatari, one of the world’s largest refugee camps. She was born missing four fingers on her left hand and through a UNICEF partnership is being fitted with a new prosthetic created by a 3D printer.

Martin met Nirob who at 10 years old, has experienced unimaginable horrors. He also joined Rubel, a project worker on outreach at the train station. They found a young boy sleeping in the ticket hall and Rubel guided him to safety at the hub. These boys are just two of thousands of children who have been helped by UNICEF hubs like this.

The family lives in a very remote village far from any health facilities, meaning Ibrahim had not yet had his childhood vaccinations. To try and prevent the same thing happening to other families, UNICEF and partners travel wherever they are needed to vaccinate children around the world – meaning almost a billion children every year are protected from conditions like polio, measles and pneumonia.
THE WAR IN UKRAINE HAS LED TO SCHOOLS AND NURSERIES BEING DESTROYED OR MADE UNSAFE. SURANNE JONES SHOWS HOW UNICEF IS HELPING CHILDREN.
UNICEF is working hard to protect children in Ukraine. Since the last Soccer Aid, UNICEF has built a bomb shelter in the basement of a nursery and is stepping in to adapt more and more nurseries and schools where children can feel safe again.
LENNIE JAMES INTRODUCES GRACE AND GEORGE IN MALAWI. BECAUSE OF CYCLONE FREDDY THEIR DAUGHTER CHARITY BECOME MALNOURISHED AND RAPIDLY ILL.
The strongest cyclone on record tore across Malawi destroying lives, homes, livelihood and crops. Thanks to UNICEF, Charity is receiving life-saving therapeutic food from the local clinic, which is helping her get stronger each day. Without it, she probably wouldn’t survive.
