Dave Morris

I started sailing as a little kid in northern Minnesota with a homemade sail I fabricated for my canoe. My mother kidded me that the sail looked like Paul Bunyan’s underwear.

While attending college in Galveston, I took all the sailing classes they had for my Phys Ed requirements. All in Lasers and Hobie cats.

In the mid ’90s, I moved to Alameda and purchased a 41-ft boat and lived on that while sailing and exploring the Bay Area. Eventually I sailed it down to Long Beach and explored that area until we sold it three years later.

In 2006, I moved to Half Moon Bay and eventually joined the local yacht club and got more into the sailing activities of the club and eventually some racing.

The SSS TransPac fell into my bucket list sometime in 2008. I bought Moonshadow in early ’10 and my learning curve has not come off vertical since. I crew occasionally on other boats but really enjoy the SSS events the most. Great bunch of people.

I plan to sail the boat back with another friend.
