Researchers undertook a self-controlled case series study of people vaccinated in England between December 1, 2020 and April 24, 2021, in order to investigate hospital admission for, or death from, thrombocytopenia and venous and arterial thromboembolic events in the 28 days following three exposures: first dose of ChAdOx1nCoV-19; first dose of BNT162b2 mRNA; and a positive SARS-CoV-2 test.

The findings have been published in The BMJ.
