Guidance on phased return to Rounders during COVID-19

Rounders England continues to closely follow the UK Government and Sport England’s advice on the lockdown and associated restrictions.

Following the recent government guidance on easing restrictions on meeting up with individuals not in your own household, the below content outlines opportunities for players to come together in small groups, to do conditioning or training together.

Outdoor activity permitted for Rounders players and coaches

Official social distancing restrictions remain in place stating you must maintain a 2 metre distance at all times with all players and coaches outside of your household.

Since 1 June 2020, you can now exercise alone, with members of your household, or with up to, but no more than 5 other people from outside your household while keeping 2 metres apart at all times.

  • Sessions including catching, fielding or hitting with other people living in your household are permitted.
  • Sessions including catching, fielding or hitting with up to, but no more than, five other people are permitted. Physical contact with anyone outside of your household is not permitted.
  • Equipment must be cleaned regularly. If you share bats, clean them with household cleaning products at exchange. Balls may be thrown or fielded, ensuring that you use anti-bacterial gel or wipes and wash your hands well following the session.

Team Sports
Those who play team sports can now meet to train together and undertake conditioning or fitness sessions but they must be in separate groups of no more than 6 and must remain 2 metres apart at all times. While groups could practice bat and ball skills, equipment sharing should be kept to a minimum and strong hand hygiene practices should be in place before and after. As physical contact with anyone outside of your household is not permitted, playing small sided or full games is also not permitted currently.
