English Language and Preparation courses

Our engaging and supportive preparation courses will help prepare you for university study. 

You will be taught by committed, friendly and experienced academics in high-spec facilities on our green, safe campus in the heart of southwest London. 

We offer pre-sessional English intensive language courses that will help you develop your academic English language skills.

For students who need to develop both their academic study skills and English language ability, we also offer an International Foundation programme

English language support 

To ensure you maxmise your studies with us, we also offer in-sessional English language support for undergraduate and postgraduate students, who speak English as a second language. 

You will need to register for the English language support modules on the programme:

EAP020C146 English for Academic Study 

This one-year module will help you improve your writing in English, through language study, practice and individual feedback. You’ll also get 20 credits towards your degree. 

The syllabus follows your studies closely, focusing on issues such as: 

  • Getting the most out of your reading 
  • Understanding essay questions 
  • Producing bibliographies 
  • Writing essays 

EAP020P201Y Academic writing for postgraduate students 

This one-year module will help postgraduate and research students to refine their written English skills. 

It focuses on the language and skills involved in academic tasks, such as:

  • Organising essays and dissertations
  • Taking a critical approach
  • Developing arguments
  • Using reading effectively
