Overview

A first of its kind - RCSEd surgeons will be cycling the length and breadth of England and onwards to Edinburgh - stopping at six centres to carry out a travelling surgical symposium each day.

Target Audience

Students, trainees, practicing surgeons, other medical professionals, the general public.

Learning Style

Experienced consultant surgeons and talented surgical trainees will conduct a series of Masterclasses on key surgical topics including highlighting the importance of exercise and fitness for patients prior to surgery. In addition a strong focus will be placed on the College's anti-bullying campaign #Letsremoveit.

Aims & Objectives

#Letscycleit aims to increase public awareness of the College campaigns mentioned above whilest making use of the RCSEd’s Regional Surgical Advisor Network; a group of surgeons spread across the UK who represent RCSEd locally and stimulate interest in collective learning and networking. Engagement with the media in this regard will help disseminate and promote these important public health messages whilst demonstrating the efforts the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is making to challenge damaging behaviour in the healthcare workplace and ultimately aiming to improve patient safety and care. Furthermore in an attempt to promote exercise for everyone, #Letscycleit will be open to local cyclists, both healthcare professionals and the public, to join in any of the 7 daily stages. Anyone wishing to join in can register online via Zwift; the home training game that links to riders around the world.
