Lean Launch Programme LLP

In collaboration with Helix Innovation Partnerships, the North by Northwest Consortium’s Lean Launch Programme is a novel five–week pre–accelerator programme where university researchers have the opportunity to:

• validate their research in the market;


• secure funding (up to £5k per team) in support of customer discovery activities;


• investigate the most appropriate technology transfer route to market, and


• secure potential additional funding upon successful completion of the programme.

Graduates of the programme have included spin–outs Causeway Sensors, Green Lizard Technologies and Phion Therapeutics, which have gone on to raise investment, secure grant funding, win awards and secure success in their respective markets.

North by Northwest (NxNW) ICURe Programme

The ICURe (Innovation–to–Commercialisation of University Research) Programme trains, funds and supports teams led by university early–career researchers to determine whether there is a market for products or services that use their research, science or technology. Up to £35,000 of funding is available to “get out of the lab” and validate these commercially promising ideas in the marketplace.

Projects which emerge through the ICURe process, and have the potential to form new start–up companies, will be eligible to receive up to an additional £15,000 to develop their business plans.
