Purina Institute – Privacy Policy

This Policy describes the information data collection and use practices for the Purina Institute. It only applies when this Policy is provided to you. It does not apply to sites or apps where it does not appear. This includes not applying to Nestlé Purina Global Resources Inc.’s general operations. It also does not apply in other circumstances. It does not describe our practices for information we might collect from Purina Institute employees.

We collect various types of information from you, as described below. California law requires us to tell you if we share information for cross-contextual behavioral advertising. Described below by category is the information we may collect and if we share it for cross-contextual behavioral  advertising. Contact and account information. We may collect your name and address. We may also collect your phone number and email address. This includes your title and company name. We collect information you provide to create an account or profile. We also collect job interest and resume if you apply for a job with us. We collect license numbers from veterinarians who register with us. In some cases, we may share this information for the purpose noted above. 

Feedback information. We collect your feedback about your experience with Purina products. We also collect feedback you may share about our events. You may share this in reviews or through photos or other media.

Location information. We may collect information about your location. This may include your precise location if you request to know suggested stores or directions of where to purchase product. It may include your city or zip code. In some cases, we may share this information for the purpose noted above.

Site usage and device information. We may collect information about the browser you are using when you use our sites. We also look at how long you stay on our sites and what content you view. We may also collect information about your operating system or hardware model. We may also collect IP addresses or device identifiers. We may look at what site you came from, or what site you visit when you leave us. We may also collect your mobile carrier information. In some cases, we may share this information for the purpose noted above.

We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information, as defined by California law, for inferring characteristics or for purposes other than those permitted by law. We keep personal information as long as it is necessary or relevant for the practices described in this Policy. We also keep information as otherwise required by law.

Methods of Collecting Information

We collect information from you directly. We collect information when you sign up for communications. We collect information when you register with us. This includes signing up for an event. We also collect information through surveys and on social media channels.

We provide information within our family of companies. We may share all categories of information with our affiliates and subsidiaries. This includes future related companies.

We disclose information to service providers.  We may share all categories of information with external companies who perform services for us. This includes helping us with events and webinars. This also includes companies that help us with fraud detection and website operations. We may also share all categories of information with data analytics vendors or market research companies.

We may share information for cross-contextual behavioral advertising. We may share information with third parties in order to provide cross-contextual behavioral advertising. In the Notice at Collection (above) we outlined which categories of information are shared for cross-contextual behavioral advertising.

We will transfer information with any successor to all or part of our business. In the event that Purina or its assets are acquired by or merged with another company, we may share all categories of information as part of that transaction. This acquisition or merger may include part of our business or one of our brands. This may occur in the event of bankruptcy.

We provide information if we think we have to in order to comply with the law or to protect ourselves. For example, we may share all categories information to respond to a court order or subpoena. We will share information if a government agency or regulatory body requests it. This includes U.S. and non-U.S. law enforcement or regulatory authorities.

We Combine Information

We combine information about you that we have collected offline with information we collect online. We combine information across devices. This includes computers and mobile devices. We combine information about you we get from different sources. This includes combining information we get from another company with information we already have.

 


Your Choices and Rights

You can opt out of marketing emails. To stop receiving our promotional emails follow the instructions in any promotional email you get from us. If you opt out of marketing emails, you will still get transactional emails. These include emails about your relationship with us or about your account.

EU and UK Residents. Certain additional rights exist if European law applies. These include rights to access, update or correct your information. These rights may also include requesting a portable copy of your information. These rights may also include requesting that we delete your information or that we restrict how we process your information. It may also apply if you object to profiling or direct marketing. You can also withdraw your consent. (See above for details.) You may also be able to object to having your information used for other purposes. Certain residents’ rights. If you live in California or Virginia, or a state with a similar law, you may have certain additional legal rights. This includes the right to ask us what information we collect and use and what information we share or sell to third parties. It also includes the right to ask us to delete information we have collected from you. It also includes the right to fix or update information you have provided to us. If you are submitting on someone else’s behalf we may ask for additional verification. This may include providing a signed letter verifying your right to make this request. We will not discriminate against you because you have exercised any of these rights.


Notice of Right to Opt-out of Sale/Sharing: Under California law we are required to tell you if we "sell" information. While we do not believe we engage in “selling” information, it is possible that certain of our sharing activity may be viewed as a sale. We do not sell information of Californians under 16. You can opt out of this activity by visiting the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. You can also opt out by calling us at 800-778-7462. Some browsers or browser extensions also allow you to tell websites not to share your information for cross-contextual behavioral advertising through the “global privacy control” or equivalent signal. We will respond to this kind of signal in a frictionless manner. Nevada residents’ rights. We have disclosure obligations in Nevada. We do not exchange Nevada residents’ personal information for money.  Nevada residents may opt out of the future sale of their information to a third party by contacting us as described at the end of this policy.

 


These Sites and Apps are Not Intended For Children

The sites and apps where this Policy appears are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or legal guardian and think your child has given us information, you can write to us or email us at the addresses provided at the end of this policy. Security Measures and Location of Information

We use reasonable security measures as required by law. The Internet is not 100% secure. We cannot promise that your use of our sites and apps will be completely safe. We encourage you to use caution, and not to share or reuse passwords.

Information we collect is stored in the United States. You understand that your information will be sent to the United States. If you live outside of the United States and choose to use our sites and apps you agree this is at your own risk. The United States may not afford the same level of protection as laws in your country.
