Polling on the Cost of Living Crisis

Public First has released a new poll, looking in detail at public concerns about rising living costs.

The measures people are taking to cut costs – and expect to take – are staggering.

The poll reveals disappointment in the Government’s failure to address rising costs to date, but also great expectations that they will act decisively in the short-term. There’s a potential mismatch growing between expectations and reality.

The poll also reveals public concern about the prospect of growing disorder. However, while the public are deeply sympathetic to those that can’t pay bills, and indeed to those that choose to protest lawfully (for example, through strikes), they want violent disorder dealt with harshly.

We will be running a number of these questions again over the next few months to track changes in attitudes and behaviour.

Results were featured in the Telegraph, and polling tables are available here.
