“I am delighted to introduce Police Now’s Impact Report 2022/23. Surrey Police have partnered with Police Now since 2016, with a shared commitment to making our communities safer and tackling the challenges facing policing and wider society.

It is vital that police forces become more diverse organisations, not only to better represent and respect the differences in the communities we serve, but also to get better at what we do – building on public trust and confidence. Police Now officers are helping us to achieve this in Surrey, putting victims first and protecting our communities to help make Surrey a county that is safe, and feels safe. Alongside their commitment to solving problems and protecting communities, Police Now officers also bring in diverse perspectives and experiences that are helping us to challenge ourselves, and each other, to innovate, to learn and create friendly and inclusive working environments.

As the case studies and data in this report demonstrate, a career in policing offers an unparalleled opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of the most vulnerable people in society and serve the public, whilst also developing your own talents and leadership skills. If you are considering a career in policing, we would love to welcome you into the policing family with Police Now”.

Gavin Stephens QPM, Chair of National Police Chiefs’ Council

Police Now’s mission is to transform communities, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, and increase the public’s confidence in the police service by recruiting, developing and inspiring outstanding and diverse individuals to be leaders in society and on the policing frontline.

Our story so far

Police Now was created in 2014 by a small group of junior frontline police officers who wanted to serve communities better; by building on policing’s strengths and challenging its weaknesses. Police Now has since partnered with 35 police forces in England and Wales, selecting, recruiting, and developing over 2,798 police officers through the National Graduate Leadership Programme and the National Detective Programme. Alongside this, Police Now’s Frontline Leadership Programme for aspiring sergeants and inspectors has enrolled an additional 410 participants to date.
