This story is not a good story. It’s a story of discrimination, a story of inequality, and one of missed opportunity. This story needs to be rewritten. And you will be a part of changing the story.
It’s not right that over half of black, Asian and minority ethnic people believe the criminal justice system discriminates against particular groups and individuals.
We won’t accept that black children aged 10 to 17 are nine times more likely to be in youth custody than white children of the same age.
Having just 7.3% of officers from black, Asian or minority ethnic backgrounds when the population is 14% isn’t good enough.
The problems we face in society are complex, but we all know these inequalities aren’t right, and that we need to do better. Something has to change. Will you be a part of that change?

Police Now’s mission is to transform communities, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, and increase the public’s confidence in the police service by recruiting, developing and inspiring outstanding and diverse individuals to be leaders in society and on the policing frontline.

What's in it for you?
You will be joining a programme like no other out there.
From your very first day you will have the responsibility of your neighbourhood, dealing with people from all parts of society and being a leader in the community. You will understand the places, the people, and seek to make the lives of those living there better using your problem-solving skills to set out strategies for change for now and generations to come. You won’t do this alone though. First you will attend your Police Now Academy which is full of forward-thinking and cutting-edge training throughout the seven weeks. You will be led by curriculum experts and operational police officers bringing insight like no others can.
Throughout the two-year programme we will develop you constantly through your role and with a dedicated coach, your Leadership Development Officer, who will work with you one-to-one to develop the natural leader you have within you. You will be a disrupter to help with the pace of change needed in policing. You will have the confidence through your training to be a disrupter and lead by example in vital areas such as racism and social inequalities.
Beyond the two-year programme our support doesn’t end. We want to see you succeed throughout your career into senior ranks within policing and we do this by supporting you through the College of Policing fast-track programme, so that you can work in positions to continue to drive change. You can choose to leave policing and take your skills elsewhere to shape policy, drive change and improve people’s lives in other public and private sector roles.
All this alongside knowing you will be part of a huge societal shift that will see the most vulnerable having the best chance of success, people regardless of background and ethnicity will feel positive about their prospects and the public will have genuine trust in policing and the criminal justice system.
