UK home broadband performance, measurement period March 2023

Ofcom's latest research into the performance of fixed-line broadband delivered to UK homes. The report is based on data we collected in March 2023.

Our latest Communications Market Report shows that 86% of UK households use fixed broadband. More homeworking, and the widespread use of bandwidth-heavy services like video streaming, mean that most people need reliable and high-quality broadband.

The report uses two main sources of data:

• data collected by SamKnows from volunteers who connect a hardware monitoring unit to their broadband router; and
• data provided to Ofcom by the UK’s four largest broadband providers.
