Lead Change and Delivery Officer (Carbon Management)
Waverley Court

Salary: £50,550 - £60,506 per year
Hours: 36 per week

We want to ensure Edinburgh, as Scotland’s capital city, is at the forefront of securing a swift and just transition to a low carbon future for Scotland – now, and for future generations. Recognising the urgent need for radical action to mitigate the effects of climate change, the City of Edinburgh Council has declared a climate emergency and set out a bold ambition for the city to be carbon neutral by 2030.

To help make this vision a reality we are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and flexible carbon management professional to join the Council’s Corporate Policy and Insight function to support one of Scotland’s leading councils to drive a fast-paced and exciting strategic programme to tackle climate change.

The Carbon Manager will provide analytical and carbon management expertise in support of the Council and city 2030 net zero target. This will include the development of tools to improve information available on the carbon impact of key strategic and operational proposals. The post will also have lead responsibility for leading the development and refresh of the Council Emissions Reduction Plan, reporting on Council and city emissions, and translating data and analysis into a useable framework to support Council decision-making and inform the development of investment proposals.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• strong leadership and personal responsibility, and be results orientated in relation to the work they lead
• a strong track record in data analytics and carbon management or climate change strategy
• experience in organizational carbon accountancy, including best practice in approaches to management information for carbon reduction projects
• an understanding of a range of business intelligence tools and quantitative analysis methodologies
• experience in working with a diverse range of partners in the public, private and third sectors

The job description details the responsibilities and transferable skills required across a multi-discipline team and is therefore generic, while the person specification details the key skills, knowledge and expertise required for this specific post.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
