Critical Minerals for the Sustainable Energy Transition: A Guidebook to Support Intergenerational Action has been officially published! The Guidebook can be accessed via https://lnkd.in/egxV3Zkd. In 2023, I joined the Resource Management Young Member Group (RMYMG) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Expert Group on Resource Management. RMYMG brings together young experts to collaborate on multilateral decision-making processes on resource management. I am honored to have contributed to authoring the Guidebook as the first big project of RMYMG. Grateful for thoughtful leadership of Vadim Kuznetsov and Jodi-Ann Jue Xuan Wang and cooperation with 19 other bright and motivated co-authors and editors from all over the world! Today marks the last day of our 2024 sessions, filled with insightful discussions and ideas on sustainability and resource management. Join us from 10:00 to 18:00 as we wrap up with dialogues on initiatives and strategic collaborations that aim to redefine our approach to global resources and the management of critical materials.   Empowering Sustainability – We continue our exploration into innovative practices that overcome adoption barriers and implement the G-axis recommendations.  🌍 Insight into Day 4 of Resource Management Week 2024: This morning, we delved into the essence and future of sustainable resource management on the global stage. Dario Liguti  and Karen Hanghøj led a pivotal panel discussing the International Centres of Excellence on Sustainable Resource Management (ICE-SRM). The conversation shed light on the vital role these Centres play in driving sustainability worldwide and disseminating UNFC and UNRMS.  Key highlights: - **Expansion and Engagement:** We discussed the need for increased global participation to fully leverage the capabilities of ICE-SRMs. - **Recognition and Standards:** The panel reviewed the stringent criteria necessary for ICE-SRMs to maintain excellence and efficacy. -**Holistic Approach:** We explored how the integration of academia, policy tools, and industry can enhance sustainable growth and foster meaningful dialogue among the Centres. In a significant move, we also welcomed a high-level delegation from Mexico, including Ulises Neri (Executive Director of ICE-SRM Mexico), and senior officials from the States of Tamaulipas, Campeche and Aguascalientes: ·  José Ramón Silva - Secretary of Energy Development of the State of Tamaulipas ·  Carlos Adrian García Basto - Director General of the State Energy Agency of the State of Campeche ·  Esaú Garza - Secretary of Economy, Science and Technology of the State of Aguascalientes. They shared insights on the recent developments in the adoption and utilisation of UNFC and UNRMS in the region. This dependence underscores the urgent need for sustainable development in resource management.   Moreover, diversifying economies outside the traditional resource value chain is crucial. This involves fostering industries that do not rely solely on natural resources, thus promoting economic stability and reducing vulnerability to market fluctuations.   As we promote sustainable resource management, integrating every link of the value chain from extraction to use/reuse with a focus on equitable and sustainable practices is essential.    Adopting the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) and the United Nations Resource Management System (UNRMS) can provide these countries with the frameworks needed for transparent and equitable resource management. To address these challenges, the development and implementation of the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) and the United Nations Resource Management System (UNRMS) are becoming increasingly crucial. These frameworks provide much-needed clarity for investors and enhance educational efforts by establishing clear and consistent standards and practices for sustainable and responsible resource management. By adhering to UNFC and UNRMS guidelines, all sectors involved can ensure that resource development is conducted ethically, respecting human rights and promoting equality.
