Where challenge meets solution 🤝   Different municipalities in the Central Denmark Region had a need for an evidence-based and a plug-and-play solution for qualifying healthcare staff. This challenge was taken up by the Aarhus-based company, MyMedCards.   Together with employees and healthcare consultants from the municipalities, they have developed a mobile solution aimed at providing employees in the social and elderly care sector with better knowledge of various procedures and thus better treatment of citizens 🤳   MyMedCards was founded by Dr. Sarah Bach Munkholm, who is pleased to be part of the solution to one of the challenges in the care sector:   "Our goal is to educate the care staff really well and then provide them with an easy-to-use reference tool on the go, to minimize mistakes in the care sector. At the same time, we focus on reflection, so employees learn to think 'is something wrong here?' - to ensure that citizens receive the best possible care". 👉 Go check out MyMedCards and their work to improve the healthcare system by securing that the right staff possess the right qualifications.

🏅 Number 1. best large hospital in Denmark 🏅 Number 23. best hospital in the world Aarhus Universitetshospital is the best large hospital in Denmark - and one of the best in the world!   For the 15th year in a row, Dagens Medicin Danmark has named AUH as the best hospital in Denmark. The hospital has the highest overall patient satisfaction and ranks number one in 11 different treatment areas.   ⭐Top-notch treatment⭐ "The award shows that our patients can be both confident and assured that the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and care they receive from us is top-notch," says Michael Braüner Schmidt, Chief Medical Officer at AUH.   As one award weren't enough, AUH is also among the best on the international hospital scene. For the sixth year in a row, Newsweek has ranked the very best hospitals across 30 countries and 2400 hospitals. And let's just say...   ...It's not so surprising that other countries often look to Denmark for inspiration on how to organize their healthcare system.   No less than four Danish hospitals are represented in the top 100. And AUH snags the 23rd position.   In Newsweek's ranking 85,000 respondents were invited to evaluate the hospitals across four categories: peer recommendation, patient experience, hospital quality metrics, and PROMs implementation (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures).   A huge congratulations to all the employees at the hospital who not only keep the wheels turning but also continuously work towards making the wheels run better and more smoothly so that patients receive the best care and treatment.   #wheresciencemeetslife foto: Tonny Foghmar, AUH.

From project to business 💪 Kasper Linde turned an idea and a problem into a MedTech business, Zeta Diagnostics, with guidance from The Kitchen - AU Erhverv og Innovation on funding and business development. "Entrepreneurship is important because I feel that it is the way we create a bridge between all the fantastic research taking place in Danish hospitals and universities to develop solutions that transition from research papers into clinical everyday life", Kasper says. The world of innovation and entrepreneurship can be as challenging to navigate as it is inspiring and intriguing. Therefore, it is crucial to have organizations like The Kitchen - AU Erhverv og Innovation and the BioMedical Design Novo Nordisk Foundation Fellowship Programme to help bring ideas to life and turn problems into solutions.

👓 🚀 Strengthening the health sector through foresight and innovation. 10 directors from Danish hospitals have a debate article in today's Altinget.dk. Among others Michael Braüner Schmidt, Chief Medical Officer at Aarhus Universitetshospital. In the article, the directors state the importance of prioritizing research, innovation, and development in our health sector - both despite a strained healthcare system and because of a strained healthcare system. We need research-based innovation and new thinking to meet the challenges of the future.   You should definitely take five minutes to read how the directors believe we should create good, long-term health solutions for our society. But if are just.too.busy, here's a very curated little taste:   🔦 Research and development are not "whipped cream" or a luxury in the Danish healthcare system. It is a necessary activity if we are to meet citizens' expectations of a well-functioning healthcare system in the future.   🔦 We must increase our focus on ensuring that research has a clear aim of being utilized throughout Denmark, so when a Ph.D. project is approved, greater emphasis should be placed on how the acquired knowledge can be used and disseminated.   🔦 We are quite convinced that we fundamentally share politicians' desire to strengthen the healthcare system. However, strengthening in itself carries a risk of stagnation; therefore, we need strengthening through foresight and innovation.   But seriously. Give it a proper read. Cause they are totally right. Innovation and development are not just buzzwords; they are important keys to unlocking solutions that will provide us with more and better health in the future. Thanks shining a spotlight on this subject l Anna-Marie Bloch Münster, Charlotte Birkmose Rotbøl, Bjarne Dahler-Eriksen, Kim Brixen, Michael Dall, Michael Braüner Schmidt, Morten Ziebell, Thomas Høi-Hansen, Tina Gram Larsen, Søren Hjortshøj. #wheresciencemeetslife There's a link down there (in comments) 👇 Photo: Thomas Lekfeldt/Ritzau Scanpix (from Altinget's article)

Where hearts meet world class treatment  🧡   There was no golden medal for the Danish handball team this year. However, three hospitals (AUH, RH Viborg, RH Silkeborg) in Region Midtjylland have won four first places in a ranking of Denmark's best hospital in the cardiovascular area, determined by Dagens Medicin Danmark. And that's worthy of both applause and clapper hats 👏 🥇Aarhus Universitetshospital: Denmark's best hospital across the cardiovascular field 🥇Aarhus Universitetshospital: Best at treating carotid endarectomy 🥇Hospitalsenhed Midt: Best at treating atrial fibrillation 🥇Hospitalsenhed Midt: Best at treating heart failure   This is not something you can achieve in your sleep. It takes a lot of research, tests, sharing of information, specialized knowledge, collaboration and determination to offer world class treatment of heart diseases. A huge congratulations and round of applause for the great staff at the hospitals in the Central Denmark Region.   Read more on the ranking of the best hospital at Dagens Medicin Danmark.   #wheresciencemeetslife

Where public meets private 🤝 And where politicians meet Health Innovation Aarhus   It is on everyone's lips these years: our healthcare system in Denmark is facing immense challenges, and we need new innovative solutions to overcome them.   Needless to say, that's not a task for a single organization, company, politician, or researcher to handle on their own. So how can we go about securing and boosting the innovation collaboration and procurement between the private and public sectors, and how can our politicians encourage this? Huge questions, we know.   Alright, so imagine this... 🧐   A handful of innovative company and cluster representatives (Emento, Systematic A/S, Trifork, Danish Life Science Cluster, DigitalLead), hospital CEOs, an ecosystem expert, politicians from 'Udvalg for Bæredygtighed, Teknologi og Anlæg' from Region Midtjylland, and directors and managers from different parts of Region Midtjylland (koncernledelsen, IT, jura, indkøb og regional udvikling) all coming together in… a circle.   While being able to see everyone in the room and transparently discuss their shared challenges and different takes on solving them, they narrowed down some suggestions on what the different partners can do to ignite innovation and collaboration in Central Denmark and the Aarhus region.   💬 As politicians, we can help break down barriers around hospitals' collaboration with companies, and we can help set political goals. With the development that is taking place with significantly more elderly people and the need for labor, we need more corporate collaboration if we are to succeed in delivering health in the coming years. We have and will face major challenges and thus a need for new and still unknown health solutions. And we have to discuss it with companies before there is even an idea for a product, explains committee chairman Henrik Gottlieb Hansen (S).   Already on February 6th, the politicians will meet to dicuss the suggestions that came up during the day to come up with ideas to how they can support the innovation process between the private and public sectors.
