MIP in partnership with The University of Manchester and Manchester Museum was delighted to welcome 250 Indian students attending Greater Manchester universities to the Indian Students Welcome Event 2023 held at the Manchester Museum: South Asia Gallery on the 17th October. The students were given tours of the South Asia Gallery alongside performances by the Bollywood dance group the Sonash Sisters. Students heard from: - Dame Nancy Rothwell President and Vice Chancellor of The University of Manchester - Mr Simon Arora : Chair of the Manchester India Partnership - Ms Kanika Arora: Vice Consul Consular at the Indian Consulate of Birmingham On the importance of making the most of their time in the city region. The Manchester India Partnership was delighted to host the Confederation of Indian Industry: Indian Mission on Design and Advanced Technologies in partnership with The University of Manchester on the 19th of September. The delegation was led by the CII Co-Chairs representing Tata Steel and Dynamatic Technologies Limited. The purpose of the visit was to learn more about the University of Manchester's work in areas of mutual interest including advanced materials and design. The 30 person delegation also met with representatives from a number of the University's research centers and institutes including: - The National Graphene Institute - Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre -University of Manchester Innovation Factory -ID Manchester -Henry Royce Institute. The delegation also had the opportunity to tour a number of the University's facilities, including the National Graphene Institute Cleanrooms and MECD Facilities. A big thank you to all our speakers and hosts at the University of Manchester for an engaging and informative visit and for their commitment to international collaboration. Delighted to share that Manchester India Partnership and MIDAS Manchester's Inward Investment Agency have signed an MOU with nasscom and Manchester Airports Group to launch a new soft-landing package. The agreement provides office space for nasscom members looking to establish themselves in Greater Manchester for a period of 6 months. This is the first nasscom launchpad in the UK and we look forward to welcoming the first cohort of companies in due course. At the signing ceremony we heard from Deputy Chair of Manchester India Partnership : Jo Ahmed, President of TiE UK North: Raam Shankar, The University of Salford, Greater Manchester Chamber, UK and The University of Manchester about all the opportunities the city region provides for international firms. Manchester India Partnership and MIDAS Manchester's Inward Investment Agency, were thrilled to welcome a Department for Business and Trade tech delegation on the 21st and 22nd of June during the Greater Manchester leg of their UK wide DBT India visit. On day 1, delegates heard from our colleagues in: -The Creative,Digital and Tech team @MIDAS Manchester's Inward Investment Agency. -Microsoft and -TiE UK North President Raam Shankar about why Greater Manchester is the place to be for Indian tech firms. After the session we followed up with some speed networking and refreshments. On day 2 we had breakfast with the Lord Mayor of Manchester and held a market entry advisory session at DAC Beachcroft LLP. Over the last two days: - MIP and MIDAS highlighted why Greater Manchester is the place to be for technology firms, owing to huge investment opportunities at Emirates Old Trafford, Lancashire Cricket Club - Microsoft presented their strategy for digital growth in GM - We took guests on a tour of University Academy 92 (UA92) and had an insight into their industry partnership approach to teaching - MIP Board Member and TiE UK North President Raam Shankar , shared why its an exciting time for entrepreneurs to discover what GM has to offer - We enjoyed a special welcome breakfast reception with The Lord Mayor of Manchester - A tailored market entry development session, hosted by DAC Beachcroft LLP in Spinningfields The visit gave us a brilliant opportunity to share what’s new on Manchester’s digital journey and live investment and collaboration opportunities here in the city-region. Greater Manchester and India have a long history of working together and we can’t wait to see what comes next!
