✈️ We’ve published the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) mandate, our plan to help passengers to keep travelling how they want while protecting the environment. The SAF industry is expected to generate more than £1.8 billion to the UK economy by 2030, creating thousands of skilled jobs.   The mandate includes:   ✅ New targets for SAF, with 10% of jet fuel set to go green by 2030 ✅ Incentives for suppliers to provide SAF to the UK ✅ Powers to prevent higher prices   📄 We’ve also launched a consultation on the SAF revenue certainty scheme, to help guarantee revenue and encourage further investors to the UK.     Find out more: https://lnkd.in/euM79iHe

We’ve launched the Smart Shipping Acceleration Fund, a competition providing £8 million of funding to organisations making autonomous and smart shipping technologies a reality. 🚢   The competition will support feasibility studies looking into innovative technology within maritime. Young people could have access to hundreds of new job opportunities across the bus and coach sectors under a new Government consultation launched today 🚌 The proposals would lower the minimum age to drive longer routes, and speed up access to training for bus, coach and lorry drivers – helping to deliver more reliable bus services, support supply chains, and grow the economy. We’ve launched the International Green Corridors Fund, which forms the latest round of the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition, with £1.5 million funding to help decarbonise international shipping routes.   The competition will provide funding to organisations who are working up feasibility studies on how to make maritime greener, helping to create cleaner journeys for passengers and freight.   In collaboration with the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, and Ireland this aims to make international green shipping corridors a reality. We’ve extended the deadline for some UK airports to finish installing cutting-edge new scanners, which will make air travel safer and easier for passengers by strengthening security even further.
