The reality of imposter syndrome

- Do you sometimes think you don't deserve your accomplishments? Are you afraid people will find out you're faking it? That you're not as skilled or talented as you've led others to believe? For many people, these persistent thoughts are a dirty little secret. But they're actually very common. Research summarized in the International Journal of Behavioral Science in 2011 notes that 70% of us have felt like an imposter at some point. If these thoughts come to your regularly, you're experiencing imposter syndrome. I'm Carolyn. Despite having a master's degree, a PHD, and more than 30 years training and consulting experience, I feel imposter syndrome too. I have lots of awards in my office at a prestigious university, but every so often I doubt my intelligence and obsess over mistakes. This course will help you understand imposter feelings in yourself, or in other people you care about. We'll explore types of imposter syndrome, and identify situations most likely to trigger it. You'll complete exercises to personalize the content to your own situation. So let's work on this together. By the end of this course, you'll know how to stop feeling like a fraud and start embracing your unique talents and capabilities.
