This is the last communication I ever had with my son. Approximately 12 hours later Jordan was to take his own life, alone in his home. Today, sees the beginning of #mentalhealthawarenessweek and I want to say a massive thank you to Elaine Malcolm and Hannah Popplewell from North Yorkshire Police who reached out to me recently and asked if they could share Jordan's story online for Mental Health Awareness Week. Within a few hours of sharing the story on Facebook, it had been viewed by almost 200K people. The comments I've received have touched me deeply - one in particular, from someone who was Jordan's boss at a previous organisation he'd worked at She was someone who'd taken the time to sit down with Jordan and talk about his mental health and has been deeply saddened to discover, today, that he couldn't find the strength to carry on any longer - perhaps she helped give him a few more years? AFTER LIFE BECOMES REAL LIFE Benches to mark the final series of a Ricky Gervais TV show about loss have been installed in parks to provide a place for people to chat and reflect. They are among 25 benches donated to local councils by streaming service Netflix and the suicide prevention charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). The benches installed in Nottingham have been engraved with a quote from the show "Hope is Everything" and all involved hope they will become places people will want to visit. Source: BBC NEWS

Others have expressed far more eloquently how this post made them feel than I can. All I can say, is that simple text exchange is heart breaking to read . So sorry for your loss , no parent should ever have to outlive their children x

Sometimes the person is just so sad that they fail to think about anything else. People with depression are masters of hiding their true feelings. I'll never forget watching the father of someone I knew cry so hard saying I miss him so much. It's just a terrible thing because it leaves multiple survivors behind. It's also incredibly dangerous culture to call men weak for sharing their feelings or crying and it needs to change.
