WT’s Nick Coke, Director and UK Education Lead, will be speaking at the Alliance of Construction Networks tomorrow, Thursday 16th May. Nick will be exploring the topic of unconscious bias in tender assessments.   The Procurement Act which comes into force later this year, has on objective of ensuring contracts are awarded based on value for money, competition, and objective criteria in decision-making.   A recent article by Neil Thody of Orange Peel Consultancy, looked at the issue of unconscious bias and the potential impact it can have on the award of contracts. He highlighted several ways in which one can ensure that unconscious bias doesn’t impact on your tender assessment.     Join Nick, Neil Thody of Orange Peel Consulting, and Susan A. of The Brand Marquee at The Building Centre, 26 Store Street, London, WC1E 7BT between 7.45 - 10.15am, to consider answers to important questions such as: - What are the key points of the Procurement Act and how does it differ? - How do we determine unconscious bias? - What can we put in place to avoid bias? We look forward to hearing the insights discussed surrounding this important topic. #Procure #UnconsciousBias #ACN

WT are pleased to announce the success of our annual golf day that took place last Thursday, at Kingswood Golf Course in Surrey. This year, we were proud to support two incredible charities: Mates in Mind and The Fire Fighters Charity. Both charities make a significant difference to individuals by promoting improved mental wellbeing.   We extend our gratitude to the generous sponsors for making this event possible: Marcon Construction, Eclipse Digital Solutions Ltd, Stonebridge Corporate Ltd, CUFFE PLC, Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure, Collins Construction Ltd, Cundall, Edmont Ltd., Lostock Installations Ltd, Four Seasons ACS Ltd., JB Associates Construction Consultancy, and Logan Construction (SE) Limited. We are moved by this tremendous show of support. The contributions will undoubtedly make a real difference in the lives of those supported by these charities.    Together, we're making a positive impact in our communities and beyond, by raising awareness and addressing the stigma of poor mental health. Thank you to all those that joined us in fundraising for these important causes!   #WTCharityGolfDay #SupportingCharities #CommunityImpact

WT Cambridge were pleased to have been part of the Norfolk Business Festival breakfast networking event that took place on 24th April. Senior Associate Director, Raymond Mcfee and Assistant Project Manager, Connor Jones attended the Green Gains: Sustainable Actions for your Business presentation, which focused on sustainability within the workplace. Attendees were encouraged to participate in impactful discussions around the importance of reducing our environmental footprint, conserving resources, and fostering responsibility.   Speakers at Norfolk Business Festival guided the attendees through four achievable steps for making sustainable business choices. The presentation concentrated on four key areas: - Processing waste more locally to lessen environmental impacts - Utilising local, eco-friendly procurement of goods (e.g., office necessities and cleaning products) - Encouraging staff to use more environmentally modes of transport into work (e.g., e-bikes and scooters) - Installing and using renewable energies (e.g., having solar installed), or encouraging your landlord to do it where you don’t own the property   Ray commented “It was a professional yet engaging session, offering practical insights to enhance business's eco-friendly practices.”.   WT recognise the importance of integrating sustainable practices into our operations and we are committed to taking the correct steps to ensure these goals are met, as we believe that these steps are not just beneficial for the environment, but they also help achieve long-term viability for our business.   WT look forward to continuing to be a part of networking events like this in the future, to ensure that we are maximising our sustainability knowledge, and optimising our approaches to a more sustainable future.   #Sustainability #WTCambridge #BusinessSustainability #Networking #RenewableEnergy

At WT, we recognise our responsibility to minimise our environmental footprint and contribute to the preservation of our planet. We believe in a holistic approach to sustainability, focusing not only on carbon offsetting but also on actively enhancing our natural environment. Too often we see companies with good intentions, planting trees on the other side of the planet as it is the most cost-effective - this defeats the point. The UK has one of the lowest tree cover proportions in Europe, with a significant number of native species at threat of extinction. That's why we're proud to announce that we allocate a minimum of 5% of our Green Framework management fee to support native tree planting initiatives across the UK. By increasing tree cover, we aim to combat climate change, safeguard biodiversity, and promote mental wellbeing within our communities. Starting this autumn, we're taking our commitment a step further by personally participating in tree planting activities alongside our partners and clients. Join us in our mission to make a positive impact on the planet while fostering meaningful relationships. If you are attending either Footprint+ & CRETech, contact us to arrange a meeting and learn more about our sustainability efforts and how we're shaping a greener future for generations to come. #Sustainability #NativeTreePlanting #EnvironmentalStewardship #CorporateResponsibility #FootprintPlus #CRETech
