Yesterday members of staff from CField attended the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Safety Summit in Croke Park. The discussions were all about AI and digital solutions assisting in remote fieldwork with Karl Simmons. Patricia Helen Rosen joined in remotely and discussed how human centred design can lead to healthier and more productive workplaces. Captain Niall Downey shared some details on safety management systems developed for aviation and linked to construction and Rhona Flin focused on the critical role of non-technical skills in construction. Other speakers included Peter McKenna, Conor O'Brien CEO of HSA, Bernard Brogan of Pep Talk. We were able to gain insight into the environmental and safety benefits of modern construction and the unveiling future initiatives aimed at keeping pace with the changing work landscape. It was fantastic to hear from Natalie Ryan -MHFA- of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity who spoke on services and support the Lighthouse has to offer, and Fergus Farrell spoke on his incredible recovery from a workplace accident and resilience. Dermot Carey then wrapped up the day by highlighting the significant improvements in safety in Ireland since he began. The CIF Safety Summit was Dermot’s last appearance for CIF, from all CField wish you the very best in the future. A huge thank you to everyone who spoke at the event, it was a excellent day and we left useful knowledge about the important topics which were discussed. Finally, it was also great to catch up with various suppliers on the day as they promoted their equipment and services. James Kavanagh Edward Kelly Brian Greene #SafetySummit24

Last week, the CField Health and Safety team, visited a number of our UK projects to have a conversation with our site teams and contractors about stress in the workplace as part of our Mental Health month initiative. Although stress and anxiety are serious matters, the aim of these visits was to have a light-hearted engaging discussion about work, life in general and how to implement some sensible and manageable adjustments to improve personal well-being.   We had a lot of laughs, listened to some interesting stories and the outcome of the workshops was a beneficial experience. A huge thank you to everyone who got involved and shared their stories. #MentalHealthAwareness

Last Friday, CField had the pleasure of collaborating with See My Skills once again, and welcoming students from Terence MacSwiney Community College on-site! See My Skills’ vision is to “create a world where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive and succeed, regardless of their unique challenges”. Fairfield Meadows site was once again opened to students where they had the incredible opportunity to meet various professionals from the construction industry and tour the site. From chatting with skilled carpenters to learning about the intricacies of electrical systems from electricians, the students learned about the diverse roles within construction including professions such as plumbing, electrical, construction, mechanical hopefully spiking their interest to consider as a career opportunity in the future. A special thank you to Kevin Condon and Shane Cahalane for orchestrating such an impactful and educational experience for the students!

On Monday a number of CField staff joined Ian Hines a Mental Health Safety and Wellness Specialist on his 'stress webinar' as part of CField’s Stress campaign. He kindly educated us all about stress and the importance of dealing with it before it develops into anything further. Stress is a part of everyone’s life whether its managing positive stress or experiencing negative stress. A huge thank you to Ian for sharing that webinar with us, we all came away from it with very useful information that we can put to use in day to day life. #StressCampaign #Stress #MentalHealth

Congratulations to Ryan Vidler of Mavco Building Services Ltd who has won an award for good recognition towards Health and Safety Compliance! The award was presented by James Kavanagh from CField Construction, Senior EHS. Ryan has been very helpful throughout one of our key projects Merck F2.0 Blarney ensuring his operatives are fully compliant with PPE, checking that permits are all written according to the task, assisting project management teams on system walks focusing on health and safety and much more. Keep up the good work Ryan! #HealthandSafety #WellDone

Over the last number of weeks, we had the pleasure of collaborating with See My Skills - a social enterprise on a mission to foster a more inclusive workplace. See My Skills’ vision is to “create a world where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive and succeed, regardless of their unique challenges”. This particular project focus was on school students, encouraging employers to embrace employees and potential employees who are neurodivergent. What does Neurodivergent mean? Essentially, it’s a term that describes people whose brains develop or work differently. This means the person has different strengths and struggles from people whose brains develop or work more typically. Neurodiversity includes Dyslexia, Autism, Aspergers, ADHA, and Dyspraxia. Recently, we opened up Fairfield Meadows site to students where they had the incredible opportunity to meet various professionals from the construction industry and tour the site. From chatting with skilled carpenters crafting with precision to learning about the intricacies of electrical systems from expert electricians, the students learned about the diverse roles within construction. A special thank you to William O'BrienKevin Condon, Shane Cahalane and Treasa Mc Carthy for orchestrating such a memorable and educational experience for the students and nurturing the next generation! #buildingfutures #ambition #givingback #seemyskills
