Yesterday members of staff from CField attended the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Safety Summit in Croke Park. The discussions were all about AI and digital solutions assisting in remote fieldwork with Karl Simmons. Patricia Helen Rosen joined in remotely and discussed how human centred design can lead to healthier and more productive workplaces. Captain Niall Downey shared some details on safety management systems developed for aviation and linked to construction and Rhona Flin focused on the critical role of non-technical skills in construction. Other speakers included Peter McKenna, Conor O'Brien CEO of HSA, Bernard Brogan of Pep Talk. We were able to gain insight into the environmental and safety benefits of modern construction and the unveiling future initiatives aimed at keeping pace with the changing work landscape. It was fantastic to hear from Natalie Ryan -MHFA- of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity who spoke on services and support the Lighthouse has to offer, and Fergus Farrell spoke on his incredible recovery from a workplace accident and resilience. Dermot Carey then wrapped up the day by highlighting the significant improvements in safety in Ireland since he began. The CIF Safety Summit was Dermot’s last appearance for CIF, from all CField wish you the very best in the future. A huge thank you to everyone who spoke at the event, it was a excellent day and we left useful knowledge about the important topics which were discussed. Finally, it was also great to catch up with various suppliers on the day as they promoted their equipment and services. James Kavanagh Edward Kelly Brian Greene #SafetySummit24
