Exciting News!   On Friday, April 19th, ALGIECEL had the pleasure to participate in a breakfast meeting with Morten Bødskov, Minister of Business, Innovation and Employment and Jacob Jensen, Minister of Environment and Agriculture. We discussed the need for a national strategy for #Biosolutions, and what framework conditions are necessary for the sector to flourish and deliver on the huge potential that nature’s own solutions, if put into industrial scale and use, holds for Denmark and for Europe.   Of the many topics discussed, we highlighted the need for closing the funding gap for First-of-a-kind (FOAK) technologies, guidance by a specific #Biosolutions taskforce or “Center of Excellence” to help start-ups navigate the approvals needed to get fast to market – both in Denmark and on EU level. Also the need to a compelling and easy to comprehend narrative around #Biosolutions with specific and concrete examples of solutions were discussed.   A great example of collaboration between #politicians, #universities, #corporates, #start-ups and #foundations. NEW ADDITION TO THE ALGIECEL FAMILY!   We are happy to announce that Rikke Dybvad has joined ALGIECEL as our new Head of Legal.   We asked Rikke to give a small introduction of herself:   “Hi! I’m Rikke, the new Head of Legal. I have a background as an attorney at law at the law firm Gorrissen Federspiel and the Danish Association of Managers and Executives (Lederne - Danmarks største lederorganisation). In addition, I have held posts on various boards. The last years I have been working as a consultant advising on legal and HR matters and at the same time been teaching yoga in my own yogastudio. As Head of Legal I will be responsible for setting up company processes, advise in legal and HR matters, assist in fundraising, and support the company regarding #strategy and investor relations. I am really looking forward to join the versatile and talented team of #Algiecel and contribute to Algiecels mission with my legal experience. Exciting Update from ALGIECEL   Yesterday, our Product Development Manager Claus Rosensparre had the pleasure of attending the Life Science Project and Networking Day at the Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark. It was an incredible opportunity for students from the Faculty of Science to connect with the vibrant biotech community in our region.   We're thrilled to play a role in the #biosolutions landscape alongside our esteemed colleagues from other# biotech companies in Odense. It is inspiring to witness the enthusiasm and talent of the next generation of professionals emerging from #SDU.   The future of life sciences is indeed bright and promising, and we're honored to be a part of it. Exciting News!   We're thrilled to announce that Gemma Almató Bellavista, a Chemical Engineering master's student at DTU - Technical University of Denmark, has successfully completed her master's thesis in collaboration with ALGIECEL! Over the past six months, under the guidance of supervisors Ditte Baun Hermund, Emil Gundersen, and Adane Tilahun Getachew, Gemma has delved into optimizing post-harvest processing methods for #omega-3 rich #microalgae oil.   The project involved testing various drying methods, cell opening techniques, and oil extraction processes to enhance quantity and quality. Specifically, the focus was on evaluating #EPA and #chlorophyll levels in crude microalgae oil, while closely monitoring oxidation throughout each stage.   We're proud to share that Gemma's experiments have uncovered promising insights, with spin flash drying emerging as a standout option for continuous microalgae drying, with minimal impact on oil quality.   This is a great step for #Algiecel and our further development of #natural and #sustainable microalgae-based ingredients. New exciting #collaboration!   A few weeks ago our Product Development Manager, Claus Rosensparre, went on a trip to Hirtshals to participate in the Kick-off meeting of #EHFAF at the DTU Aqua facilities.   ALGIECEL has together with Aller Aqua, DTU Aqua, and Skagen Salmon teamed up and started a new project collaboration. We will together be testing the use and #nutritional benefits of using #microalgae in salmon RAS production.
