The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, renewed his call on Monday, for the necessity to put an end to the fighting, and find lasting solutions to the conflict in Libya.

He also noted the importance of assisting Tripoli in its fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

"In the aftermath of the global Corona pandemic, I have called for an immediate ceasefire throughout the world," Guterres said in his report before the Security Council.

He stressed that stopping the fighting is crucial to ensure that health authorities can meet the challenge posed by the virus to public health, indicating in this regard the importance of implementing the arms embargo on Libya effectively.
