Story

Welcome to our Just Giving page, me and mum are taking part in the Cambridge half marathon on the of 3rd March 2024!

Mum decided as she turns 70 next year she wanted to challenge herself and raise some vital funds for Sue Ryder. She asked if I would be her running partner and of course I said yes! Mum and I have never done anything like this before and we would invite you to share our journey and support us anyway you can.

There are two very important reasons why me and mum are running the half marathon. I have worked at Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough for the last two years as an Occupational Therapist, and have been privileged to support people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness or the loss of a loved one. My role is dedicated to ensuring the patients wellbeing is paramount and enable them to live life as independently as possible.

We also wish to remember James (son/brother) who died at the age of 22 while travelling after University. He sadly died alone without his family or his friends. While we are assured he was well cared for it is difficult to imagine making that final journey alone.

This just doesn’t happen to the patients at Thorpe Hall, and we pride ourselves on ensuring patients receive the best possible care.

So, we decided that we would try and raise as much money as we possibly could for Thorpe Hall and help in a small way to support this amazing organisation.

Please donate through our just giving page if you are able too. We promise every pound raised will truly make a difference.

Thank you Amanda and Angela!!!

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need.
