Story
Less than 1 in 10 people in the UK survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. This has been partly attributed to two factors that communities can change:
There aren’t enough people prepared to perform CPR when someone has a cardiac arrest
There aren’t enough defibrillators.
By having a defibrillator in your community and by training people in CPR, you can play an important part in saving more lives. A community Public Access Defibrillators is a defibrillator that is available to members of the public, 24 hours a day, to use in the case of a life-threatening emergency.
When a person goes into cardiac arrest, their heart stops beating, oxygen is not being transported to the brain and other vital organs, and within four to five minutes, brain damage will start to occur without intervention. A victim’s chance of survival falls by around 7 to 10 percent with every minute that defibrillation is delayed. It stops beating normally as the electrical activity in their heart becomes uncoordinated. A defibrillator sends out an electrical shock, to stop the electricity with the aim to get it to restart in a normal rhythm.
There are only three Defibrillators that are accessible to the public in Coventry 24/7 they are in the following locations: Bond Street, The Council House , Earl Street and Hillfields Church, Lower Ford Street.
Coundon Court school would like to raise money to purchase a defibrillator along with a lockable external cabinet to mount in the heart of the Coundon community, for the use of the public should they need it.

3 years agoCoundon Courts Mr Connor will be completing an Ironman Triathlon which consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and 26.2 mile run. It starts at 7am and must be completed by 12am (midnight). He plans on completing the Ironman challenge on Saturday 14th August 2021. Preparation for Ironman has taken a huge amount of grit and dedication. Training in the cold, dark and winter months was certainly a challenge but not as tough as what he faced over the last few weeks as his training volume increased. They work-out for 10 minutes enjoying a range of activities which them fitter, stronger and happier. Y7 have set themselves the challenge of completing 1 hour of HIIT over the school day on Wednesday 14th July 2021. They will complete a 10 minute HIIT class every hour during the school day. This will be a big challenge but we are looking forward to pushing themselves. Please show your support to the Y7's by donating.
