The Election Commission of India on Wednesday issued a notice to BJP leader Parvesh Verma and sought his reply by 12 pm on Thursday, in connection with his controversial remarks on Shaheen Bagh protesters.

The notice has been served to him in connection with two cases. During a media interview, Verma said, " They (Shaheen Bagh protesters) will enter your houses, rape your sisters and daughters, kill them.

In another statement, he said if the BJP is voted to power, Shaheen Bagh will be cleared in one hour.

On Tuesday, the BJP MP had kicked off a massive controversy after he called Shaheen Bagh protesters 'rapists and murderers'.

Parvesh Verma on Tuesday said lakhs will enter homes to rape and kill women in Delhi, provoking opposition outrage as the Delhi election chief submitted a report on his remarks to the Election Commission.

Parvesh Verma is an MP from the West Delhi MP.
