Meghan's family are said to be furious with Samantha for writing the book. Samantha Markle’s mother Rosalyn, the first wife of Meghan’s father, has branded her daughter a liar and claims she is trying to drag her half-sister down to compensate for her own problems.

She told the Mail on Sunday: “Samantha has been estranged from her family for some time. Everything she said about Meghan is a lie.

“When you are not a happy person you want to drag everyone down with you.”

Meghan Markle's sister, Samantha Grant, appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss her "tell-all" book about growing up with the Suits actress.

Titled "The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister", Samantha told Richard Madeley the book is "not a slamming tell-all".

Speaking via satellite link from Florida, she said: “Well, it’s true that I’m writing a book and the title is accurate. What is not true is that unbelievable swell that’s been created, that it’s some sort of slamming tell-all. 

“It’s only a tell-all in the sense that I recant some of the beautiful nuances of our lives, our family home."

It was speculated he would try to include a trip to see Meghan during this visit as Chicago is fewer than 500 miles from Toronto.

But this would be a go against advice given by the National Audit Office.

In a report written in 2004 after the NAO investigated claims the Duke of York arranged work flights to coincide with golf trips, they said: “Members of the Royal Family are entitled to grant-in-aid for official travel, as are their staff and, where capacity permits, other officials.

“They meet their own costs, however, for private travel. In order to avoid confusion, combining private and public engagements in the same trip is actively discouraged."

Kensington Palace was forced to deny suggestions Prince Harry would use his trip to Chicago to spend time with Meghan.

The fifth-in-line to the throne will be visiting former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle during the Chicago visit.

He will attend the inaugural summit meeting of the Obama Foundation in Chicago on October 31 at the personal invitation of the Obamas.

But the Palace has now confirmed Meghan and Harry won’t be spending Halloween together, meaning an engagement will definitely not come on this date.

It is claimed the pair have a wedding date in mind.

A source told Vanity Fair: “William and Kate are expecting their third baby mid April, and Harry won’t want to overshadow the birth of another prince or princess, and, of course, the Duchess will need some time to recover before she is at such a high-profile event.

“The most likely date is early summer 2018, which neatly ties in with Harry and Meghan’s second anniversary.“
