This session is for anyone working in the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS).
Duration: 7 Hours, including a break
Prerequisites: Must have attended Understanding Domestic Violence and Abuse (URDVA) training
This one-day course is designed for workers, and volunteers, from all sectors, who wish to develop an informed understanding of men who perpetrate domestic abuse.
The training will explore a range of associated theories, themes, perspectives and practice-models that can be utilised when working with male perpetrators. Also, this course will support the understanding, and practical application of good-practise skills for working with, and responding safely to, the perpetrators you may encounter in your day-to-day working life.
Learning outcomes
• Increased understanding of the reasons why abusive men perpetrate domestic violence
• Improved understanding of good practice for working with perpetrators, including safe practice and the risk of collusion
• Practise techniques to address blame, minimisation and denial.
• Increased understanding of appropriate referral pathways for perpetrators and the importance of support for survivors
Please bear in mind that this training does include reference to types of domestic abuse, if you are watching or taking part in this training in a shared building, if possible, please do so in a space that is not accessed by other people for the duration of the training.
It is possible that any training about domestic abuse has the potential to impact on each of us personally, please be aware that this may be the case before accessing the training.
