About this event

Act 3: Devising and Dramaturgy

Thank you for your interest in becoming a participant in our pilot workshop which is part of the EU and ERASMUS+ funded research project Future laboratories for professional and personal development – FUTURES (2020-2023).

What to expect?

The objective of this session is to aquaint you with some of the concepts of devising and dramaturgy that will empower you to consider your potential futures in ways that will help your personal and professional development.

This workshop will be run by two performance practitioners, who will create a safe space for non-performers and performers alike to explore and express themselves.

In theatre and performance practices, devising is the process through which a company of players collectively creates a performance, starting from a stimulus, which can be an object, an idea, a work of art, a theme…

Key to the devising process is the fact that there is no script! This is much like life!

Devising and improvisation can enable us to develop skills to navigate the manner in which we perform. Together, we will explore how to apply these concepts to generate future scenarios, speculating on what might happen through game and play. And by the end of our time together we hope you will feel empowered to start thinking about reframing your assumptions and embracing the complexity of your (im)possible futures in the real world.

Important Information

Following your sign up, you will be contacted and asked to watch a short presentation video (20 mins) and complete a preparatory task (15 mins). The workshop will also be live streamed to our research partners and your participation will be recorded for research but will not be published. At the end of the session you will be asked to complete a short survey. You can read more about the project objectives by clicking here.
