Essex County Council

Social Value matters to Essex County Council.

It ensures that collaboratively we make every pound work harder for our communities. Social value is a tool for local economic growth, creating opportunities for Essex businesses and charities; jobs and skills development for Essex residents; preparing young people for employment, ensuring they are aware of opportunities; and reducing negative impacts on the environment.

Essex County Council, like many other public sector bodies, takes social value into account when putting contracts out to tender and awarding contracts.

So, let’s start our social value journey together!

We’re delighted to host a wide range of speakers for a week of learning, sharing experience and debate. The Social Value Festival is taking place on Monday 19 to Thursday 22 July 2021. It is aimed at businesses of any size ranging from small to medium enterprises to large organisations as well as social and community enterprises across a wide range of sectors.

With inspirational keynote speakers and deep dive thematic sessions, the Social Value Festival is the ideal opportunity for organisations to find out more about Social Value and learn how we can deliver it together. Participants can gain an understanding of how Essex County Council evaluates Social Value using the ECC TOMs framework (Themes, Outcomes and Measures) and how to successfully incorporate it into a bid. Samantha Butler, ECC Social Value Lead and Cabinet Office Head of Social Value Skills and Engagement, will launch the Social Value Catalogue.
