The next UUKi sub-Saharan Africa Policy Network will take place in London on Wednesday 18 September.

Updates will be provided by UUKi, British Council, BEIS, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Joe Morley and colleagues, from the Governments Cross Whitehall Joint Africa Unit will provide an overview of the UK Government Cross Whitehall Africa Strategy and update on plans for showcasing UK / Africa university partnerships. Jacqui Williams, Head of Partnerships and GCRF Programmes, UK Research and Innovation, will provide an overview of the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) and the opportunities it presents for UK universities looking to establish partnerships with African partners.

The second part of the meeting will be devoted to Kenya. We will hear from Dorothy Kamwilu, Education Attaché, High Commission of Kenya, who will provide an overview of the Kenyan Higher Education Sector. Dr Roseline Wanjiru, Associate Professor, Newcastle Business School will introduce the group to the politics and economics of Kenya, Griff Ryan, TNE Projects Officer, UUKi, will provide some background on UK TNE in Kenya, and Tee Dymond, Regional Partnerships Coordinator (Africa, Americas, Europe), Nottingham Trent University will introduce us to the Nottingham Trent Brackenhurst Project.

Please note that due to a regional UK university recruitment event occuring in East Africa at the same time as this network, the session devoted to regional recruitment trends in Africa has been postponed to allow for key audience participation at the next network meeting.
