About this event
We invite you to participate in the Doctoral College Conference 2021. This is an interdisciplinary conference open for Postgraduate and Early Career Researchers from all faculties at the University of Surrey. The goal of the conference is to highlight the research taking place at the University of Surrey and to bring fellow researchers together.
The theme of this year's conference is Shaping Futures, celebrating our continuing inspirations to collectively take on challenges, push boundaries, create innovations and shape the future of this world beyond academia.
Professor Max Lu, President and Vice Chancellor of the University along with Professor David Sampson Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Research and Innovation and Dr Kate Gleeson, Director of the Doctoral will be opening the event and across the two days there will be engaging researcher talks, poster pitches and four keynote speakers:
- Professor Amelia Hadfield, Dean International, Head of Department of Politics, Director of the Centre for Britain and Europe (CBE)
- Professor Helen Griffiths, Pro Vice-Chancellor Swansea University
- Professor Jim Al-Khalili, Distinguished Chair, Professor of Physics, Professor of Public Engagement in Science, Centre Director
- Professor Tim Jackson, Professor of Sustainable Development and Director of the Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity (CUSP)
There will also be a range of workshops including:
- Raising awareness of neurodiversity - Genius Within
- Yoga – Jenny Suno Wu, PhD Sustainable Tourism and Wellbeing Mentor
- Presentation skills - Bright Club
- Managing Stress - Chris Ward, Wellbeing Team
