About this event

This lunchtime lecture will be delivered by Sally Muylders, Community and Involvement Manager at St Clare Hospice, who will be exploring how to empower individuals and communities to think and talk about, and plan for, death - thereby helping to 'bring death home'. Sally will explore the use of co-production in palliative care, how to develop peer support networks around death and dying and how to support the creation of compassionate communities.

"Death and dying is a universal experience - we can all expect it, along with the bereavement which follows it," comments Sally. "However, in many parts of our society, death has been medicalised and hidden from view - leading to inequity, anxiety and ignorance; people have no idea what will happen to them and no one knows how to advocate on behalf of themselves or a loved one to ensure that they have a good death."
